Residency By Property Acquisition

Ground +2 Apartments

Following the 2021/22 Budget and in line with Section 5(1)(ga) of the Immigration Act, non-citizens can now obtain a residence permit by purchasing a residential property within a building of at least two floors above ground (G+2), for no less than USD 375,000 or its equivalent in foreign or Mauritian currency. This permit remains valid as long as the buyer retains ownership of the property under the G+2 scheme.

This scheme allows foreigners to acquire apartments in developments outside the traditional IRS, RES, or PDS frameworks. The property must be part of a condominium with at least two levels above ground, and the purchase price must be no less than MUR 6 million or its equivalent in any freely convertible foreign currency.
